LORD OF THE RINGS: THE RINGS OF POWER S2 PREMIERE BY PRIME VIDEO AT BFI LONDON

State-Of-The-Art LED Solutions by 80six for a Stunning Golden-Carpet Experience

Video specialists 80six enlisted by DDA to support the production of the global show premiere at BFI

Prime Video, BFI and DDA joined forces to celebrate the highly anticipated launch of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power S2 with a lavish golden carpet premiere at the British Film Institute (BFI) in London.

The event featured five custom-built 90-degree LED screens by 80six, which amplified the grandeur of the event.

A-list actors and crew, such as Morfydd Clark (Galadriel), Robert Aramayo (Elrond), and Cynthia Addai-Robinson (Queen Regent Míriel), added star power to the evening.

THE BRIEF

DDA, leading global entertainment and communications agency, tasked 80six with providing an LED and playback package to set the stage for this high-profile event.

We built five V-shaped outdoor screens that complemented the golden carpet, serving as a stunning visual backdrop for the reception of cast, crew, press and influencers.

The technical challenge was designing the screens in a 90-degree corner configuration, which gave the press and participants dynamic angles for photographs and interviews.

Inside the BFI, we provided six video monitors which showed live footage from the golden carpet outside.

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power S2 is now streaming on Prime Video.

THE SOLUTION

We used premium ROE Visual Carbon 5 outdoor LED panels, which required our team to engineer a custom corner solution to accommodate the V-shaped design from DDA.

We did a test build at our studio. Using ROE Visual’s Air Frames — lightweight aluminium structures designed for quick and stable LED panel rigging — along with ROE Carbon metal work, scaffold ballast and custom brackets, we created a structure that seamlessly connected the panels to produce a floating corner.

"Taking a conceptual design to a real-world solution required some inventive thinking, a challenge I enjoyed taking on. It was so fun delivering a part of such a high-visibility event, which showcased creativity on a global scale."
